Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Decided to give cafe rio another try a few days ago hoping that it would be better this time around. I ordered takeout and received my food in a very timely manner. The employees still seemed a bit annoyed, just as before....but in was hoping the food was at least better this time. It was taco tuesday (1.50/taco). I ordered 3 shredded chicken tacos and asked for a bit of their medium sauce to compliment my dinner. Upon paying the cashier informed me that they charge 1$ per side of sauce that you get.....that see me absolutely outrageous to me for a small side of sauce but I paid for it anyways. The food: The chicken was extremely dry....to the point that I was drenching it in sauce just to get it down. About 1/3 way through my first taco I found a curly black hair in the chicken....my hair is straight and brown....so it definitely was not mine. After seeing that I lost my appetite completely. I called the manager and complained. She offered me a free meal for the next time I came in (hence me giving 2 stars instead of one). I will probably not be back....even for the free meal. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

The positive, it's quick, and its relatively fresh. My kids liked their cokes in a bottle, and the prices were reasonable. The negative: the food is simply so so, very Americanized, it's very salty, the music was so loud it made talking to our companion uncomfortable, I would not take anyone with hearing issues here.

This food joint is basically an overpriced taco bell and it is very very American. There is really nothing authentic on the menu. Overpriced, Americanized fast food style cuisine, also the chairs are not the comfortable.

3 star food 1 star service Food portions big, some items odd for my palate. Pork was slathered in sweet sauce. Blah. Full sized tostada was only 7.75 but a quesadilla ( TORTILLA N CHEESE ) was 8.00? Poor service in the utmost. Arrive with only 1 in front. of us. Asked for hot sauce, watched him pour mild all over my burrito. Asked for childs quesadilla - they made full sized portion. At the register things got worse. Said that we wanted kids quesadilla, got a blank look and " Well they made you a full size" he said this TWICE... Great customer no service. Went back later to ask what's up and got the same reply " That's what they made for you" So for the price of tortilla n cheese, about ¢0.25 you deserve a 1 star review.....

I got the chicken enchilada. It was pretty tasty but not hot (fire hot/not pepper hot) enough. The queso dip tasted like velveta and hamburger meat just heated up. The chips and salsa was pretty good. The best part was the mix your own soda, tea, etc...up to 100 combos. Not to pricey...but not cheap either.

Great food, poor service. I have yet to experience any Cafe Rio with even adequate service. Often times the rice is undercooked, leaving hard grain surprises throughout your burrito. The sweet pork is delicious and the mint limeade is exquisite. Horchata is so-so.

The food is ok, but when they're asking you how you want your meal.... They're charging you for everything. Boo, on these guys.

Love this place! Here are some tips: - Get the pork! Pork tacos, pork burrito, pork salad - anything that's pork. - Go on Tuesdays. Longer line (15 min wait), but $1.75/taco - Tacos come with meat, cheese, lettuce, and pico. Anything else is extra. - Burritos come with meat, cheese, salsa, lettuce, pico, beans and rice inside - Guacamole, sour cream, "house" dressing, and "enchilada style" (sauce and cheese on top of your burrito) ALL COST EXTRA If you go on Tuesday and get two tacos (which is what I do every Tuesday) - my total comes to $3.71 (including tax) for the 2 tacos and a cup for water. My boyfriend will get the same thing or sometimes get a 3rd taco if he's really hungry. If you go on any other day and get a meal (3 tacos, a salad or a burrito with rice and beans and a drink), you'll be looking at around $10. The burritos are delicious and so are the salads (the salads are also quite big and most of my guy friends say they can't finish a salad there).

Only two stars here for CR because of how stingy they are with their meat. Oh yeah, they'll pile on the rice and beans but when it comes to the good stuff they hold out. Of course if you fork over enough money you can get the amount you want, but then again who wants to pay ~$17 for a burrito with a reasonable amount of steak? Not me. Food taste is typical, really nothing to be proud of. They DO have a pretty unique drink selection, but that doesn't warrant any extra stars because one need only to know how to operate a phone to make a drink order from the supplier.

Had the sweet pork salad. Food was okay, pricing was way high for what you get. Prices are more inline with a sit down restaurant. Wouldn't say I would never go again but it won't be at my suggestion.

Cafe Rio is a great place to eat, the food is fresh, the service is good and the serving size is plenty. However I do have to knock it down one star because they keep the music so LOUD that you feel like you are eating dinner at a Ted Nugent concert. If you don't want to listen to the person you are having dinner with THEN THIS IS YOUR PLACE!!

Not as good as any Cafe Rio in Salt Lake City! Everything tastes different. No consistency. We USED to go to cafe Rio all the time!
